Dear Parents/Guardians of Remote Students:
Red Hill CUSD #10 will be allowing parents/guardians to have their child(ren) who are receiving remote instruction to be able to return to in-person instruction after the 1st quarter midterm. If you would like to have your child return to in-person instruction, please follow the instructions below. 1) Call your child(ren)’s school building and let the secretary or building administrator know you plan to have your child return to in-school instruction. 2) You have Friday, September 25 through Thursday, October 1, to inform your child(ren)’s school that your child is returning to in-person instruction. 3) After you have informed the school, your child will be able to return to in-person instruction on Monday, October 5, 2020. Your child must return to in-person instruction on this day, failure to return will result in your child waiting until after the first quarter has been completed. The reason for these deadlines is to ensure that the technology team has enough time to ensure your child’s device is ready for in-person instruction. Please make sure your child is in compliance with physical and immunization requirements by the state of Illinois.
The second time to move to in-person is at the end of the 1st quarter - Friday, October 16th. Please call by Thursday, October 15, 2020, to your child(ren)’s school building if you plan for your child to go to in-person instruction for the 2nd quarter. Your child must start back for in-person instruction by Monday, October 19, 2020. If your child does not start on Monday, October 19, 2020, they will have to wait until the end of the 2nd quarter.

Red Hill Community Unit School District No. 10
Lawrence and Crawford Counties, Illinois
September 8, 2020
Dear Families and Staff:
This letter is to inform you that an individual at Sumner Attendance Center has tested positive for COVID-19. We are coordinating our efforts with the Lawrence County Health Department to promptly identify and monitor individuals who have had recent contact with the COVID-19 positive individual to prevent further spread within our school and community. The health and safety of Red Hill Jr./Sr. High School students and staff is our highest priority, and we recognize the uncertainty and concern regarding the evolving coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. We are following guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as well as the state and local health departments for best practices and procedures to protect everyone’s health.
To prevent further spread of the disease, Sumner Attendance Center is taking the following steps:
Placing staff members and students who are identified as having prolonged close contact with the COVID-19 case in quarantine for 14 days. Close contacts will also receive a separate notification from the Lawrence County Health Department.
Ongoing monitoring of students and staff for signs and symptoms of illness and evaluation of illness reports to promptly identify possible outbreaks.
Conducting a deep clean and disinfection of the areas impacted by potential exposure to the COVID-19 virus.
We will continue to enforce safe practices to prevent, promptly identify, and respond to potential COVID cases, as follows:
Students and staff who are ill with COVID-like symptoms will promptly be placed in a separate supervised area away from others until they can be sent home.
Students are required to wear face coverings at all times, as previously directed and per school Reopening Plan.
Staff are required to wear face coverings at all times while in contact with children and other staff in the facility.
We are continuously sanitizing high-touch surfaces including door handles, stair rails, sink faucets, etc.
We have removed plush toys and other toys that cannot be properly or frequently disinfected.
We are teaching students the importance of face coverings, social distancing, and proper handwashing:
Students are discouraged from sharing personal items, e.g., water bottles.
Students are learning new ways to greet each other without touching.
Students are reminded to avoid touching their eyes, nose, and mouth, and to cover coughs and sneezes.
Students will be taught to wash their hands frequently and properly, following CDC guidelines on handwashing.
As we receive more information from the Department of Public Health and other entities, we will implement additional recommendations and guidelines.
As always, everyone should monitor their health and stay at home if they develop symptoms. Sick persons should contact their health care provider to determine if testing is needed. Anyone who develops severe symptoms should seek medical care immediately. If your child has had close contact with a known case of COVID-19, keep the child at home and notify your primary healthcare provider, school, daycare, and your local health department.
We are committed to providing your child and our staff with a safe and healthy environment. Thank you for your understanding and ongoing cooperation with our COVID prevention policies and procedures as we work to help protect your children, your families, and our staff and their families. For any questions or concerns, please contact us at 618-945-2061 or the Lawrence County Health Department after hours COVID-19 hotline at 812-213-0199.
Sincerely,
Jakie V. Walker
Red Hill Superintendent

Attention all softball fans headed to Parkview tonight. We play the second game(Approximate game time 6:15). Lawrenceville has notified us that they will sanitize the dugout after the visiting team from the first game leaves. They have asked that we stay in our cars away from the field until the visiting team/fans have left. This is so we are obeying the IESA guidelines.
